Team Les Jaeger

My first three Teams were finished within less than twelve months, and the fourth...has arrived over twelve months after the third. <sigh>.

So far the only Team comprising 4 units - The Colonel, Reindhold, Kirsten and KylerTeam Les Jaeger is one of 3 Team options for the Azur Alliance. Despite having more members than most other Teams, this one only comes in at 165 Levels, meaning that fielding 2-4 additional units in a 300 Level game is very feasible, especially with the discount that Azur can take on Prowlers (knocking 10 Levels off the Team cost).

Forming Team Les Jaeger turns The Colonel into a sort-of Arbiter, able to give Orders (small extra Actions) to the Team at no AP cost. So while many other Teams feature individual benefits for specific members, this one is dependent on The Colonel to buff the rest of the Team.

I haven't used Azur yet in any significant size of game, but now I feel I have enough to make a decent game of it with them (possibly bolstered by Wanderers Kagemaru and a Shinobi or two), so hopefully in the next few months Team Les Jaeger will make it to the table.

Team Assault Group

At last another Team - it seems to have taken me longer than expected to start to pull these together, especially an Organization Team.

Team Assault Group comprises the mysterious XII, backed up by Lorenzo Cortes (VIII) and Rayne (XXI).

The key boon for the units in this Team is that they all gain Advanced Deployment (basically what would be described as an infiltration type ability in many other skirmish games), while Rayne also has an Attack buff if either of the other two destroy an enemy first, and Lorenzo gets an extra Energy Token; all for a mere 5 Levels. With those enhancements, they make an enticing prospect, especially given that Wissenschaft can use their Organizational Advantage to gain more Advantage Card Levels. So next time we play, I would not be surprised to see Team Assault Group in action at Rob's hands.

Astute readers may not that I have made an attempt to fix the eyes on Rayne; I am hoping they are an improvement as I won't be trying a third time.

Team The Condemned Lovers

My second Team, although perhaps my first team proper (as a group of units that can be taken separately, as opposed to Bella and Aqua who must be used together if at all).

Drake and Cenette form The Condemned Lovers, he a vagabond warrior, she a princess and master fencer with angel blood in her veins.

There is a lot of interconnectivity in the backgrounds of the various Anima Tactics characters, and Teams possibly exemplify that above all else when it comes to the tabletop; there is usually a game-play bonus for each member for taking a Team. Those benefits for The Condemned Lovers are primarily built around what happens to the survivor when either Drake or Cenette is lost as a casualty - Drake in particular stacks on a lot of positive States, while Cenette can sacrifice herself, potentially saving Drake to stacks those aforementioned benefits.

The cost is that to take a Team usually requires use of an Advantage Card slot as well as the Level cost of the Team card (Team The Condemned Lovers is 5 Levels for example; so not too expensive by any stretch).

There is one other benefit that comes for a Team - they only count as one Wanderer if used in an Organization Party, useful for filling out the ranks with what is likely to be an effective sub-Party.

Team Bella & Aqua

Bella and Aqua form a Team in Anima Tactics. That has certain implications for their use in a Party, for example they count as just a single Wanderer for the purpose of Party-building.

Usually Teams have their rules listed on a dedicated game-card, with special rules gained for taking the Team that apply to one of more models; however for this Team they are incorporated into the cards of both Aqua and Bella. that is because neither can be taken without the other, and all benefits are incorporated into their own rules and the fact that you get 2 units with combat Actions for a mere 60 Levels.

What it appears to me is that it means there are extra opportunities to Activate and Attack. Bella offers versatility, while Aqua offers annoyance and potentially a devastating Charge, or even Charge threat which in itself should be tactically useful, that even if not pulled off correctly, still will only likely lose a Level 15 model.
